Today I am linking up with Rose City Reader for Book Beginnings and Freda's Voice for Page 56. Follow the links for the lists of participants to read what's out there. It's like a bunch of book teasers, so you'll get a lot to add to the ever-growing TBR.
The Burning Wire by Jeffrey Deaver is a forensic thriller featuring scientist Lincoln Rhymes.
Book Beginnings
Sitting in the control center of Algonquin Consolidated Power and Light's sprawling complex on the East River in Queens, NY, the morning supervisor frowned at the pulsing red words on his computer screen. Critical Failure.
Page 56
"Communications to run surveillance. Warrant specialists to get taps if we need them. Two DOJ lawyers. And we're getting two hundred extra agents." Rhyme and Sellitto glanced each other's way. This was a surprisingly substantial task force for a single incident that wasn't part of an ongoing investigation. And mobilized with incredible speed. The attack had happened less than two hours ago.
I love his books so I would definitely read this one!
ReplyDeleteI added you to the Link! Happy weekend!
You know, I don't think I've read anything by this author, but I'm going to have to! Thanks for sharing. :)

Oh, those flashing red words on a computer screen would strike fear in my heart! Thanks for sharing...and here's mine: “THE DENIM BLUE SEA”
ReplyDeleteOh wow, somehow both the Beginning and the Friday 56 had me really confused! Although I'm fascinated, I am also confused, but then that is my usual state! Not quite sure this one is for my, I'd have to read a bit more! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you have an amazing weekend!

I've heard of Michael Connolly but somehow never read his books even though I love forensic thrillers. I like the excerpts quite a bit. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI've never read anything by this author. It looks like I'll have to add him to my wishlist. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteIt's been a long time since I read a Michael Connelly book. I may have to check this one out.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great thriller! Thanks for sharing. My mom has always read a lot of Connelly books but I've never picked one up myself. Now I know what I'm missing.
ReplyDeleteHi Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI do hope that I am not going to make myself look really silly now! ... However I always assumed that Jeffery Deaver wrote the Lincoln Rhyme series, not Michael Connelly.
Whilst they are both excellent authors, I am particularly fond of Lincoln Rhyme, although I have only read and watched the film of 'The Bone Collector' to date. Denzel Washington played such an amazing part as Rhyme and even though both hubbie and I have seen the film several times, it never fails to draw us.
I do have a couple of the other books from the Rhyme series on my shelves and now you have made me want to head off and read one of them!
The words 'Critical Failure' already has trouble written all over it!
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your weekend,
Yvonne.
