This woman has a gigondo head! I would be scared if she was delivered to my house!I don't think she's anyone's sweetheart either.
Speaking of scary, check out this jointed Buster Brown. Remember him? He had his own line of shoes and for many of us our first pair were Buster Browns. Looking quickly, he almost appears evil to me. If you don't think he's a little weird looking with that strange smile, check out his dog.
This little girl might be cute if she didn't have a big bobble-head and eyes that were drawn vertical instead of horizontal. Her dog seems to have a big head also.
That's all I've got for semi-strange vintage Valentines, but they all redeem themselves by having dogs on them! For more vintage awesomeness be sure to visit Suzanne at ColoradoLady, our Vintage Thingies Thursday hostess.

An odd lot for sure! I don;t think I would like one to arrive unannounced. lol
ReplyDeleteWhat a very unusual collection of Valentine's.

These are strange Valentines, Elizabeth. An evil Buster Brown...too funny.
ReplyDeleteWherever you found these, they are perfect for VTT.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely wacky! Kind of fun too! Love the Buster Brown.
ReplyDeleteThe dog is cute, but that girl is FREAKY looking. Buster Brown. I remember him well. And yep, my grandparents often bought me Buster Brown shoes.
ReplyDeleteJustine :o )
Eewww scary! Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteI remember Buster Brown from Saturday morning TV. I actually was scared by Saturday morning TV. I kind of remember there was a jungle program.
ReplyDeleteVery strange valentines, indeed! That Buster Brown one is rather troubling, but I kinda like the Old Maid-ish one. Doesn't she look like the old maid from the card game? Or is it just me?!
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT!
Carol
I like the buster brown character - the little girl looks too weird for my tastes! Funny that those would sell, way back then, and even today!
ReplyDeletecute and unusual pieces.
ReplyDeleteThose are the quirkiest card's I've seen yet! Love that they all have little puppies in them! The first one just makes me smile! Thanks so much for sharing them!
ReplyDeleteI think the first one is just hoping for a Valentine, LOL!!! I remember Buster Brown because that is what my mom bought us to wear, but I don't remember him looking so scary....great post! Really fun!!! Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteLOL! Those are a little on the wacky side!
ReplyDeleteI like your valentines. They are kind of weird but cute.
ReplyDeleteYikes! A crazed looking Old Maid with a frightened dog, a bobble head alien girl and Buster Brown! I always was a bit afraid of Buster who lived in a shoe! And his dog, Tige, he lives in there too. I wasn't too keen on walking around with those two in my shoes!!!!
ReplyDeleteThose first two are terrifying, Elizabeth!
ReplyDeleteGreat cards, especially the Buster Brown ones! It's amazing that the original cartoon not only spawned a shoe store, but also invented the Mary Jane style of shoes (Mary Jane was Buster's girlfriend in the original cartoon!).
ReplyDeleteLovely finds!
Love the cards Elizabeth! Be sure to visit my blog on Valentine's Day...I'll be showing mine off! (They are not as wacky as yours!).
ReplyDeletethe first two cards were scarry ones! but funny.. thanks for sharing.. happy belated VTT
ReplyDeleteIt's bad enough that some company made them, but even worse that someone bought them and handed them out!
ReplyDeleteHilarious! The first one is weird enough...she looks like she's from a deck of Old Maid cards but Buster Brown's wink is too much. Still chuckling! What a find!
ReplyDeleteI love the rosy chicks of the drawn girl in the last picture.
