I finished Vanora Bennett's Portrait of an Unknown Womanthis week. The story of Thomas More's adopted Daughter Meg is interesting in itself, but for those fascinated with the War of the Roses and the two princes in the Tower, it's also a very cool "what if".
Also read Envy, the third book in Anna Godbersen's Luxe series. This young adult historical series, it is really holding my attention and I eagerly await the call from my library that Splendor is available for pickup.
My final read of 2009 was Nora Robert's Black Hills. It's the usual enjoyable Robert's fair, set in a wild animal refuge in South Dakota. Very interesting information about caring for large cats, sexy romance, and a crazy stalker. Separate from the story, I got this in large print from the library. I am loving large print books since my cataract surgery. They tell me I'm the youngest person checking them out! ;-)
My first book for 2010 is The Stolen Crownby Susan Higgenbotham, an ARC from Sourcebooks I will be reviewing later this winter. Another War of the Roses story told from two points of view, Henry Stafford, Duke of Buckingham and his wife Katherine Stafford, sister of Elizabeth, Queen to Edward IV. Back to the princes in the Tower, this one has another idea of what happened to them.
Sunday I began House and Homethe first novel from Kathleen McCleary, so I'll tell you about it next week.
Little Reminder: Any Amazon purchase you make by following a link on Thoughts from an Evil Overlord puts a few pennies in my currently unemployed pocket. If you're buying something anyway, you can just click through here, first.
I haven't read Nora Roberts in a while I need to get to her books ASAP :)

It looks like you had a great reading week! I really want to get started with the Luxe series, if only because the covers are beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteElizabeth, I was an under cover reader too! I used to read as if my life depended on it. I hope to get back in the habit this year.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the "reminder" on amazon through your site. I didn't know but will use it next time I shop online!
Sourcebooks has so many great titles! That one sounds like another one. :)
ReplyDeleteOh no, another one I need. The Stolen Crown. Thankfully, there are enough Tudor novels to keep me reading the entire year. I can't wait to read that review.
