2009 Reading Wrap-Up

2009 was a banner reading year for me. Because I am not working I had lots of time to read, but because of medical issues I was unable to read for about 3 months. Based on that I think 94 books is a really high number. I also "discovered" many authors that were new to me, as well as many first time authors.
Here are my top 10 favorites of 2009, in no particular order. They may not be the most critically acclaimed, but they are the ones I enjoyed, am still talking about, and wanted to share with everyone. What's really interesting is that 7 of them are ARCs, and only 2 are by authors I've read in the past.
  1. The Little Giant of Aberdeen Countyby Tiffany Baker
  2. Rock Bottomby Michael Shilling
  3. Busy Woman Seeks Wifeby Annie Sanders
  4. The Scarecrowby Michael Connolly
  5. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Societyby MaryAnn Shaffer
  6. Into the Beautiful North by Luis Alberto Urrea
  7. The Impostor's Daughterby Laurie Sandell
  8. The Helpby Kathryn Stockett
  9. The Language of Beesby Laurie R. King
  10. The Swan Thievesby Elizabeth Kostova
I didn't include any of the medieval or Tudor historical fiction on this list because the ones I read were all great, so I didn't want to choose just one.

i have shut off the CAPCHA, so if you are asked to type a word or number, please let me know. It is very annoying and slows down comments.
