Starting today, What are you reading on Mondays? will be hosted by Sheila at One Person's Journey Through a World of Books. We will all miss J.Kaye, who has a very full plate, or bookcase, these days.
I won O'Juliet from author Robin Maxwell's blog, along with this beautiful blown glass heart pendant, and they arrived this week.
I'm really enjoying the audiobooks I've been listening to. This week was The Serpent's Tale by Arianna Franklin and Innocence by David Hosp, both performed by excellent narrators.
Read M.C. Beaton's Death of a Gossip, the first of the Hamish MacBeth mysteries, published in 1984. Loved learning about Hamish's background, as it puts things more in perspective from the most recent book, Death of a Valentine, which I really enjoyed and reviewed last month. I'll definitely keep up with this series. Also read The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner, which he so graciously sent me from his web site. Loved it! I had known a bit about Juana through reading about her sister Katherine of Aragon, and her mother, Isabella of Spain, so I was excited to get to know her in her own right. I'll be reviewing it soon, but I can't recommend it enough.
Finished writing reviews for Life Sentences by Laura Lippman, and Margaret Irwin's Young Bess. Totally different types of books, but both excellent. They won't be posted until March, but I don't want to forget things so I try to write the reviews as soon as I finish reading. Still need to write reviews for Get Lucky by Katherine Center and The Last Queen by C.W. Gortner.
This week I plan to read O'Juliet and My Own Personal Soap Opera by Libby Malin, which I received from Sourcebooks. I'm finding mixing historical and contemporary makes it easier to remember what's going on, LOL!
What are YOU reading this Monday? Tell me about some goodies, my list isn't long enough, you know!

Love the pennant! Both your books for this week sound good! Have a great time reading them and I will watch for your reviews! :)

ReplyDeleteI believe the first time I heard of The Last Queen was on your blog last week. I am so interested in reading it that I've seriously debated starting a book review blog of my own. I'm just no good at reviews. Oh well. I'll just have to read what you think about it then buy it when I get a chance.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading this week!
What a great prize pack! I hope you enjoy O, Juliet!
