I thought they were in the hope chest in the dining room, a simple place to get them, but my poor 70 year old mother had to go crawling through a dusty old crawlspace, and who knows where else in her quest. She probably only did it because I'm her favorite. Or to hide from my dad. Or to shut me up. Who knows?! Anyhow, here they are, exactly as she found them, stored in this nice basket, with a note pinned to the first one about checking for all the pieces.
I'm loving these pant suits. They scream 70s.
I like how this one can go from being kind of nurse-like with a smock and pants to a cute dress. Very versatile pattern.
More pant suits and tunics. I am wondering about the girl in the blue dress...didn't her mom tell her ladies don't stand like that? Also, why do all these girls have such skinny legs?
I'll show you more of the patterns in the future; this post has been very wordy and you have many other Vintage Thingies Thursday participants to visit! When you visit our hostess Suzanne @ ColoradoLady be sure to check out her cute new blog design. She even had a new VTT button made!

What a nice collection of old patterns, I do believe my mother has a collection like this aswell.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had tons of patterns - drawer-fulls. I wish Id kept them. So much!
ReplyDeleteHappy VTT!

ReplyDeleteThey are wonderful graphically. So nice of your mom to crawl around the hidden places of the house for you!
ReplyDeleteI gave away a bunch to the thrift store cuz I wasnt doing anything with them a few years ago. I figured it was time to pass them on. What are your plans with them?
Kathy
Nice memories. I wonder whether any of the finished products mad from the patterns are still around.
ReplyDeleteThose are so fun!

ReplyDeleteyeah, baby!
ReplyDeleteBless your Mom a hundred times over for crawling around looking for those for you! What a sweetheart! And these bring back memories of when I would sew ALOT of my own clothes, at my Mother's sewing machine!

Elizabeth, I am right there with you on not being sure what day it is since I work from home. I missed posting VTT this week.
ReplyDeleteLove, love, love your patterns! I have that smock pattern! It's the first garment I made for me. My dress dummy, Ethel, is wearing said smock. Now I have an idea for a VTT post!
I love the sewing patterns..and the fact that your mother went to such trouble, makes them even more special. Some of the outfits on the pattern fronts,I really like. Specially the smock top and pants..they're really pretty. Happy VTT..have a lovely weekend.
ReplyDeleteOMG, you cracked me up. I can just see your mom crawling through the dust just to stay away from your dad. Heeheehee!
ReplyDeleteNow why did you want these? I doubt you'll be sewing some hot 70s clothes...
Justine :o )
Oh, these patterns are just gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI remember the times when my sister and I said, ´We will never wear ... again´. And we didn´t ... for years at least :D
Thanks for making me laugh...I loved the comment about the girl in the blue dress! I have a thing for vintage patterns too but I like the one's from the 40's and 50's. I have found a few for a few dollars each but they can get pricey so my collection is small.
ReplyDeleteHave a great weekend.
Jane
That blue dress comment was too funny. I so remember these pant suits, my grandma worked in a sewing factory, and always had some like this for my aunt and mom...brought back lots of memories! Happy VTT!
ReplyDeleteHahaha.....naughty blue girl. Pantsuits were all the rage then...hmmm...I remember one I had. I thought I was so cool.
ReplyDeleteWell you know I LOVE those patterns Elizabeth! I'm going to be doing a post about preservation of vintage patterns on my blog this month so you may want to watch for it.
ReplyDeletei'm ssoo glad your mum didn't throw them out after all these years..btw that simplicity pattern with the smock looks very familiar i think i might have it stashed away somewhere :))
