I got some fancy hand made lamp work beads for Christmas and Halloween, which are a lot of fun, but cost anywhere from 25 - 75 cents a piece. That's really adding to my materials cost. For example, this particular bracelet cost 4.50 to make, which does not include the cost of the stringing material, those tiny green beads, or the fee for listing it on etsy, probably another 50 cents. So what's a reasonable price that gives me a profit, and doesn't rip people off? I really do value your input on this, ladies! What would you pay that would seem reasonable?
Well, that's enough money talk, now let's chat about design. I love this particular bracelet. The red and green beads are metal filigree, and the boxes are hand made and decorated on both sides. I'm calling it Classy Gifts because it seems a little more grown-up than the first one, which I see as whimsical.
I've made a lot of these pumpkin and candy corn bracelets. They only vary in the spacers I chose to go between them, but even those are always some combination of black and green.
Of course I've made plenty of non-holiday items. The camera battery died today before I took those pictures, but since I spent all day making bracelets with lots of blue in them, I'll show them on a Blue Monday soon. This yellow and blue screams summer to me. It's bright and classic.
I have several of these candy pillow bracelets, each a little different. I think these beads are a lot of fun!None of these have been listed on etsy yet, but there are a lot more photos of things I've created at the Little Somethings Fan Page.

Enjoy the long weekend; I expect to see pictures of everyone's fun times, since I have nothing planned.

Cute, cuter and cutest! I just bought beads to make some holiday earrings. You inspired me on your angel post. :)
ReplyDeleteCute bracelets, Elizabeth. I like the red and white one. Would you be making any thing if you sold it for $8? I don't know that I would pay $10...but I'm not a jewelry wearer...
ReplyDeleteCute bracelets! I've seen some similar a couple years ago in a gift shop, priced at $8 - $10.50, depending on if they had sterling silver embellishments or not, and some added a watch to it - so cute and useful and stylish! I'm not a jewelry person myself - earrings usually, are the only thing I wear if any jewelry at all. Love the candy bracelet.
ReplyDeleteOh, your bracelets are so appealing. They look exactly like they are meant to be eaten! Candy bracelets. LOL
ReplyDeleteWell aren't those just the most clever things ever!! And while I can hardly find blog time I admire those who can Face and Tweet. Have a wonderful time!
