For Vintage Thingies Thursday last week, I shared my one and only tea cup. I had felt left out of the bloggy tea cup club and was excited to find out I was a member. Well, there's another club that I didn't belong to...the chicken club! (No, not the sandwich!) Many of you have big rooster or chicken collections. Dish towels, plates, statuary, you've got them everywhere. Sadly, I have been left out of this poultry club. UNTIL NOW! I'd like to unveil my small chicken casserole dish, which is blue, of course, for Blue Monday.
Dishes like these can be baked in the oven to make individual chicken pot pies. Mine just sits on the hutch with other nifty things from, you guessed it, my dad's basement. This was my great-aunt Gertie's, and I remember it being in the pantry of her big old Victorian house. It had the original pantry with a window and a counter for actually doing work in there.
For more great blue things, visit Smiling Sally, our Blue Monday hostess, and think about joining us next week!

So, I guess it's OK to have a blue Monday, huh? SITS sent me over, and I'm glad they did!
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I am a member of the "poultry club" either :) My mother used to have something that looked like this (in white) She left the butter out on the counter in it--we always had soft butter for toast! Welcome to the club!
ReplyDeleteLove your chicken casserole dish. Its cute and thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI remember these; I always thought that they were cute, but I never had one. Now that you're a chicken club member, I am left alone in Blogland--the only chickenless chick around! Happy Blue Monday.
ReplyDeleteLove the blue hen. I'm not sure I have blue. Love the history too. Mine begin with me. Wonder if someone will treasure them later? I have a giveaway going on if you're interested! No, it's not blue. :(
ReplyDeleteI love your blue hen. She's perfect for Blue Monday. I hope you are having a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteI love your blue hen, I don't think I have seen a blue one before, pink maybe but not blue! Love it!! Welcome to the club of chicks!!!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great Blue Monday.
Elizabeth, thank you for sharing your blue hen on a nest. I've several hens on nest, but not a blue one! Happy Blue Monday to you!

I have an award for you over at my blog! (hint: now you will have more than one chicken)
ReplyDeleteTake care!
I love your chicken on the nest! How pretty! I've never seen one this color of blue and with a tiny little white head! I love it! Aw...don't ever feel left out! We're all in the Bloggie Club! :)
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
Oh Boy, I have to get one, too. Now I feel left out. I always thought they were very cute. I have a bunny, but not a chicken. Happy Blue Monday! ~ Robyn
