I'm really putting myself out there with my BLUE MONDAY post this week. Everyone knows I'm crafty, but I would never think to call myself an artist. However, when you sign on for a liberal arts education, you've got to take at least one class where you are the artist. I painted this in 1986. It is my first and only effort to paint on canvas. The assignment was to copy the floral image from a seed packet. We could change it a little if we chose, and I think I did. I have no idea what this flower is, but I often see it in baskets hanging from porches. Although I don't think it is very good, I did work hard on it and it got an "A".
My parents had it in their family room and brought it to me when I bought my home two years ago. I keep it sitting on a shelf, and currently am considering hanging it in my living room. I am doing a grouping of pictures that feature browns and blues. I figured I could call it folk art! I'm an untrained "artist" for this one, right?Any thoughts? Is this too horrifying to hang for the world to see?
To see some blue things that are prettier, even if they didn't earn an "A" visit Smiling Sally, our BLUE MONDAY hostess!

I had a few moments and just stopped in to say Hi. I am very busy trying to get our TO DO list done. I hope to get back to my bloggy friend really soon.

ReplyDeleteI don't think that's horrifying at all Elizabeth. It's also a piece that has significance to you and it certainly goes with the blue and brown theme.

Call yourself an artist and frown on those that don't understand it.
