Blue Orb

Smiling Sally hosts a weekly BLUE MONDAY party and has the list of all the participants on her blog. Blue is such a great summer color that I know you'll see lots of great things in all different hues. Maybe next week you'll join us with some of your own blues.
I have this great blown-glass orb hanging above the sliding door to my deck. It is swirls of green and blue, and I absolutely love watching the light shine through it.It was a Christmas gift many years ago from a student, Peter Burke, who is all grown up and in college now! I know his mom picked it out, but it still reminds me of him.

  1. I just think it is the sweetest thought that you remember who gave it to you...I usually took my children to pick out teacher's gifts...although you are correct I did drive to the store and steer them in a certain direction!
    It is beautiful!

  4. I love those colors combined to create a movement. There's a watering orb that's being sold to automatically water potted plants. It looks similar, but has a long stick=thingy to bury in the dirt. Thank you for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

  8. Very pretty. I have a few watering globes for plants that resemble that. Maybe they can be next Monday's post. ;)

  10. That looks like one I have. I love blown glass...I'm trying to figure out how to hang them with fishing wire in a way that will only highlight the glass ornaments....like they're just hanging in the air.

  11. Elizabeth, I love those orbs! There was once a studio in St. Augustine where they blew those, and I loved to go in there and look through each of the marvelous colors. Love your blue one!

    Happy Blue Monday...
