Last week I shared my awesome 2-tiered table, so this week I thought I'd tell you about what I display on it.
First up is my pink Depression-era fish dish, filled will pink, orange, and blue marbles from the 1930s, that were once my dad's. The marbles were found a few years ago in an old can from Prince Albert tobacco! If you are a Pink Saturday participant, you've probably already seen my fish dish.
This small sewing basket was my maternal grandmother's and she kept it on this table, too. There was never really anything in it.
I keep these wood 3D puzzles from the 1970s in it. The puzzles were discovered in...you guessed it, my dad's basement! They were probably something he got as a grab bag gift at work. They were still in their original plastic hang bag.
On the top of the table I have a philodendron in this Chinese-style planter that was also my maternal grandmother's. She kept it in the kitchen. So, that's my vintage grouping for this week. I hope you liked it.

I always enjoy your post about your family treasures. Oh, how I wish my own family had kept things like your family did. I enjoy so much seeing all the things your family saved for you....great post...I loved the marbles in the fish dish...so cute! Have a great VTT.

So that's how you spell it! I could never use the word *tchotchkies* because I couldn't spell it correctly to find it in the dictionary.

Such a charming way to display your family treasures, Elizabeth. I used to play marbles during recess at school; I had a bag full of them. Lost track of where they are and they could end up in a Prince Albert can of my dad's. I would love that!

Hey, Elizabeth, do you have Prince Albert in a can? Oh, I crack myself up. I always love seeing your stuff. It's so nice that you have all these treasures that belonged to your family. Those marbles are really cool.

ReplyDeleteAnd i never really thought of this as vintage but I have a philodedren plant that was my Grandma's. It has many babies too. But she kept 'em in plain ol white plastic pots - nothing as lovely as your planter.
