Pink Cosmos

I love wildflowers, and one of my favorites are cosmos. They are self-seeding, so even though they are technically an annual, they do come back and they spread. At my former home I had a garden with cosmos, coneflowers, and Indian paintbrush. I just loved the mix of all the colors. Each autumn I would save some of the heads in a brown paper bag for the winter, just to be sure I had some seeds in the spring, in case those cosmos didn't self-seed. I'd just rake a little space and throw down the heads when May rolled around. We've had several days of ridiculously high temperatures and everything is budding, making me think about that garden again. Here is a gorgeous field of cosmos I found via Google Images. The photographer is Kirk M. Rogers and I am totally amazed at his photos! Besides nature, he photographs the stars and planets; very cool.
For more gorgeous pinks, check in with Beverly and the other participants at How Sweet the Sound!

Elizabeth, Cosmos are one of my favorites, too. I hope that they return to my garden this year, too. Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't. I have an issue with moles in the area where I like to plant them. I had a hard time finding them in the garden center last year. I pulled the heads off and scattered them last fall. Maybe I should have saved them for this spring....well, we'll find out if my experiment worked, won't we? Happy Pink Saturday! ~ Robyn

I'm with you. Pink Cosmos and the coneflower are exquisite. In my opinion, they're more gorgeous when grown from seeds. Happy Pink Saturday.

I like the cosmos also. The field is beautiful. My mother used to grow these pink flowers and I have a package to plant right now. The purple ones are more common but not as pretty as the pink.

Blessings,
Jennifer

The photo of the flowers reminds me of the field of poppy flowers the characters in The Wizard of Oz ran through to get to the Wizard!.. Loved your book review for "The Guernsey Literary & Potato Peel Society". I will keep an eye out for this one in the stores! Happy Pink Saturday, and hope you're having a wonderful weekend!

We planted cosmo seeds this year (in NM) and they are doing really well, totally outgrowing the zenias and poppies. I just hope they turn into beautiful flowers and don't die out!

What pretty pink flowers! I've added your blog to my reader and hope to get back to read some more. I'm afraid I don't have as much time for the Internet as I used to, but my 90 year old Dad's Alzheimer's is getting worse and keeps me busy even though he doesn't live in my home. I'm sorry to hear of your health problems and wish you well. I live in Friendswood, but used to live up in northwest Harris County and am familiar with Spring. From NJ originally and trace my roots back to New England. (I'd love to live on the east coast again!) I'm a Durgin and would love to get to During Park some day. I have an elderly relative on tape who claims we're realated, but I don't think so. Would still like to go though.

Whoops...I need to proof read. That's Durgin Park. :)
