I'm sure most of you have something like this in your home, or at your desk at work. It's the ubiquitous painted seashells, sometimes the painted and decorated rocks. You got them for Mother's Day or your birthday, maybe. We all made them at one time or another, my dad still has the rock I made for him on his dresser!
These seashells were decorated for me by my nephews when they were 3. I love the glitter and feathers, we never had those back in the day! The small scallop shell in red nd blue is one I made for my mother many years ago.
I keep these shells on my coffee table in an antique trug box along with shells and coral from various trips. The kids love to look at them and talk about how they don't remember making the shells, and their sister always wonders why there isn't one from her. Instead, I have a clay turtle she made me. Or it may be a butterfly. No one is sure.So what have you got for natural items enhanced by children? A pet rock? Snake made of stones?

hmmm...I don't remember ever getting one of these...could be because we have always lived on the plains of West Texas...ya think? :O)
I HAVE seen them in the shops around the Gulf Coast....
Have a great Blue Monday.
Elizabeth, the only one I have left is a pine cone thickly coated with blue glitter. It's 35 years old and made for our Christmas tree when she was four years old. I love your blog and I'll be back often.
My kids are really into making soap right now so the house is decorated with it and we wash our hands a milion times a day so that it gets used up:)
I remember collecting heaps of shells when I was young but never painted them! Not sure why!
Your shells make an interesting way to keep in contact with memories.
Good morning Elisabeth, your shells are a treasure from your nephews. These are the things that we love more than anything. I love the vintage box with your collection. Children love to check out a box of treasures just like yours.
Have a fun and happy day...Jeanne
I love your blog..
You are a sentimental one, Elizabeth, keeping them on display all these years. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.
Beautiful shells, Elizabeth.
Happy Blue Monday!

I like the shells too! How sweet! My couch and chair are actually new (to me that is) and not slipcovers. Thanks for stopping, Cindy
Cute mementos. I have a green spiky clay cactus.
Blue Monday should co-host a different color every now and then. Might be fun. If blue wouldn't turn green with envy.
Happy BLUE skies,
Candy
Awww, what a great post! Happy Blue Monday!
Great post...I have lots of rocks, shells, etc. scattered and always smile when I run across them...happy memories...
Good morning Elizabeth. What a pretty and special gift from your nephews ♥ Very pretty blue indeed. I hope you have a wonderful day.
Morning, Elizabeth! Oh, I love the look of these seashells. Now being that I'm on the coast, I should go get some more shells and commence to paint the socks off them. You've given me inspiration!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I don't think I ever got any decorated nature items. I am going to have to discuss this with my kiddos and ask them to get with it.

I love your shell display. Every time I go to the beach I bring back a small shell and put it into a bowl. At the end of the year I count them to see how many trips I have made to the beach. I have been doing this for 10 years now. It is fun to sit down when it is cold outside at the end of Dec. to count and view the different shells and think of warmer days.

Once, my daughter gave me a Ladybird, made out of a rock ... it was so lovely !
Hi Elizabeth,
What fun to keep these and talk about memories associated with them :0) We do have some painted rocks around. Happy Blue Monday to you!
Glitter and feathers just make a souvenir of a fun time that much more special.
Hi Elizabeth,
Wonderful memories in that box! Thanks for sharing and Happy Blue Monday.
Blessings,
Sandi
you are such a good mom and aunt my friend! I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day! Happy Blue Monday ~ Susan
Happy Blue Monday !
What a wonderful post .
Yes we have all made or recieved something made by hands that love us.I am so glad you shared this .
I began remembering lots of little
things I have saved over the years.
I had a mom who was not sentimental ,and I am a keeper of all things special to my heart.
Well within reason. When you move a lot over the years some things get lost, thrown out and given away to thrift stores.
Blessings to you for the week ahead.
Thanks for the welcome. :)
That was nicely decorated pieces of shells. Havn´t seen that kind before.
Elizabeth they are very pretty! And it could be anything. Happy Blue Monday!
I love the painted/glittered shells! What a neat idea! I used to make like beaded necklaces and bracelets for my mom, many, many years ago! :) Hope you Monday is grand!
A friend gave me a nativity made of sea shells.
What sweet little treasures to have! But... what's a trug box?
Justine :o )
Lots of bright colors. It is nice to hang on to things that bring back such sweet memories.
So sweet. I was a preschool director and my garden has a flower bed edged with painted rocks that each child made for me with their names lettered on top.
Treasures.

Happy Blue Monday... thank you for stopping by my blog... I love your shells... I remember painting shells as a child.... they are beautiful treasure
You'll have to come visit at Christmas time and see the most beautiful tree in the world. I saved everything my kids ever made at school during Christmas time and it's all hanging on the tree. And my mother saved some of the things I made in pre-school and they now hang on the tree too. I'm 63 years old and my oldest son will be 40 this month, so needless to say we have the most beautiful faded construction paper ornaments you've ever seen.
How exquisitely decorated! I love kiddie art...
like you, I love shells too.. been collecting some each time i was at the beach.. and your shells are pretty.. thanks for sharing.. happy blue monday!
Happy Blue Monday!
