Blue Summer Jewelry

This week I'm showing some things that I've made. Encouraged by many of my readers, I opened an Etsy shop last week, called Little Somethings. Th theme is that I have things that make great gifts for a hostess, friend, get-well, or even yourself. That "little something" that is just perfect for someone. Right now I have listed some of my hemp jewelry and some cards, and I'm working on home decor items and scrapbooking embellishments. I'm not trying to sell you anything; just letting you know that your encouragement has helped me to try something new.I am very proud of this anklet. It looks really simple, but I had to figure out where to lay the 2 colors to get it like this. One side is blue with orange trim and it flips over to orange with blue trim.I wear this one all the time! I have a lot of turquoise in my summer wardrobe, as well as colors that go well with turquoise.This bracelet sparkles wtih blue and orange gladd beads. Blue and orange are the town colors where I teach, so I've sold many of these. I think it's fun and summery, regardless of the colors.I consider this one to be a pretty traditional hemp bracelet. It's simply natural colored hemp in square knots with blue fimo clay beads sitting on top.More blue and orange! I was trying for the flip again, but it doesn't work with this style of knot.Finally, my absolute favorite! I used dark blue hemp on the inside and bleached natural for the knots. By pulling the knots downward I was able to get gaps so the inside could be seen. I love these scrollwork beads, too.
In my mind, hemp jewelry is a summer tradition. I always have some to wear at the beach and around town. I wear my bracelets and necklaces year round, but anklets look so fun and kicky with capris and cute sandals. I made a set for a bridal party doing a destination wedding to Aruba in the winter, and plain hemp necklaces with one bead for the men. I also did a couple sets as birthday party favors. I hope you're getting geared up for Memorial Day weekend, the unofficial start of summer!
