Isn't this a cute little figurine? It is my sister's. My mom made it in the early 1970s when she was into ceramics. It looks just like my sister did at age 6, and the dog is painted to look like Duster, our first dog. He was such a good boy and took so much loving abuse, wearing dresses and diapers in which we cut a hole for his tail, pulling sleds up the hill for us, being tossed in a blanket, and other things a small dog shouldn't have to do.Who was your first pet? Did you do silly things with him/her?

Your Mom did a great job on this.

Your mother did a good job. I had so many pets that I can't remember my first. I've had dogs, cats, and goldfish. Thanks for sharing. Happy Blue Monday.

Your Mom must be very creative!

My older sister got into painting these ceramics and got me to paint one or two. How thoughtful of your mom to paint your family dog! My childhood pet was a very patient poodle named Dolly (after Dolly Levi) and she loved to play ball. She would fetch her blue and yellow ball for hours if your throwing arm could hold out that long!

I used to send my kids to ceramics. I am now wondering why I never went myself....may need to add it to the bucket list.

Elizabeth, this ceramic treasure is adorable. I love the dog. We didn't have dogs when I was young. My mom didn't like them. We had dogs for our kids and they loved them. So did we. Have a happy day.
Hugs...Jeanne
Really cute how your mom made that in the image of your sis and your dog! She did a nice job with the painting I think. My first animal as a child was our family orange tabby cat named Ginger. We called her buzza...don't ask where that came from?? From that time on I have had too many animals to mention...cats...dogs...birds..fish...lizards...hermit crabs...you name it! All were fun and we learned from them all. I still would love to have another bird but we have a cat that loves to eat birds for breakfast! Nice post!
I love your post and the figurine~my mother also used to paint ceramics, she loved clowns.
We had a collie growing up. We tried to ride him like a horse!
Happy Blue Monday!!
xoxo
