Another Little Skill

Lest you think I can only make things from paper, I thought I'd show you some macrame bracelets I've made with hemp and beads.
Back in the 70s I learned to macrame with my mom, and I took it up again when I was hospitalized for a month a few years ago. My sister brought me some of those Klutz books and the old skills came right back!
I like to use a variety of beads: fimo clay, glass, ceramic.
I also like to find cool and different colors of hemp, like this brown and cream. I recently got a bunch in bright colors that I am itching to use!
I make tons of them because I already have all the supplies and it is something I can do without looking. The only thing I need to see is to thread the beads, so I do that first and then watch TV and make the bracelet. I sort of feel like Mary Ingalls when she went away to the School for the Blind and learned to bead by knowing what colors were in which containers! I can't wait to get this cataract taken care of!
This 3-loop design is one of my favorites. I love the tropical colors I picked for it, too. It's so summery. I made my sister an anklet last summer and she got tons of compliments. I also made them as party favors for my niece's July birthday.
Even though I give away tons, I still have about 30 in my stash currently, necklaces and anklets, too. What do you think, would you pay $5.00 for one of these? To be cute and kicky in the summer time? Would your daughter or granddaughter wear it?

Very cute - I used to make some of those years back - not quite as nicely done as yours, however! $5 is a decent price!

Though I myself don't wear jute jewelry, I think these are very pretty and certainly saleable! I know that they are popular with teens and young adults. You should try selling on Etsy! I think the things you make are terrific!

These are great. One thing I have been told is to not undersell yourself. I think that is how it was said. What they meant is to not charge too little. Because these are handmade, you could probably sell them for more. Like $8 to $10 depending on how intricate the pattern is and how long they take to make. I know more would sell at the lower price. But your time involved is also valuable as well. Good luck!
