Wonderful Surprises!

I went to the mailbox the other day and was very excited to have two plump manila envelopes waiting along with the TV Guide. They were surprises from two bloggy friends! The first thing I opened was this folio made by Barbara from Basia Spirit Space. Inside there is a compartment for every month, and she has filled it with ATCs all with the theme of birds. They are each so different and she used really cool techniques. She sent me this as a thank-you for a prize she received from my blog. You should really go and check out all of her amazing art. She works in a variety of mediums. The second was a packet with a variety of vintage cards from Bea at Bea's Blabber. She enclosed a note that said she had noticed I used vintage images in my card-making and when she came across these she just thought I could use them. How extremely thoughtful!
Neither Barbara nor Bea knew it, but I really needed a little pick-me-up that day. I had been feeling a little down about blogging and why I did it, etc. This was due to the fact that recently I've sent out a number of prizes and giveaways and gotten no response from the recipient. I don't need someone gushing or even sending me gorgeous folios, but a quick email that a package arrived seems only courteous. I was under the impression that when you received a prize, you showed it off on your blog and linked back to the sender. I'm not selling anything, but I know that many craftspeople do giveaways hoping for the publicity. Anyhow, I just thought I'd get that off my chest. The majority of bloggers let me know when a package arrives and always say thanks.Thank you for reading my rant!
What do you think? Am I being a big baby?

No Elizabeth....you are not...I can only assume that people are busy, preoccupied, behind....no excuse really, but that comes to mind.

I know some weeks are harder for me to get things done, depending on what is going on at the time. I usually have good intentions, but they sometimes fall by the wayside...

It's ok to feel that way, I can relate...not so much in the blog world, but in my everyday life....hang in there.

Not being a baby at all... I would feel the same way. Who wouldn't show off something they won?!? I sure would...which bring me to...if you feel like having a giveaway, I'm always open to being a recepient...... :) Have a great Friday!!

Oh, and I forgot to say...what thoughtful "good" mail from your bloggy friends. So cute!

I don't think you're being a baby at all! I think the proper thing to do is make a blog post about the prizes people receive, but at the very least, they need to send an email to let you know they got it and how much they like it. That's just basic courtesy!

I know that I was so excited when I won something from you that I couldn't wait to share it with my readers!

How wonderful that you received those beautiful gifts in the mail! I'm glad that someone thought of you and blessed you.

I don't expect them to link back to me but an email is nice...I worry sometimes that it didn't arrive!
I think like a previous commenter... it is a matter of getting busy etc.
No...you are not being a baby...you are a very thoughtful person.

No! *stamping my foot* You are NOT being a baby! It's common courtesy to respond to anything that's received, be it a card, a gift, a giveaway. I remember the post you did when I sent you the vintage cards a while back. It was thoughtful and extremely well done. Thanks for sharing these wonderful surprises with us. xxoo

No, you are not being a baby! Seems we all agree. It is just common courtesy, to begin with, and where has that gone, anyways? When I send gifts to my kids and their families, seldom do I receive a response, and that is irksome. It makes me wonder if they received it, liked it, or even appreciated the thought or time that went into it. It also makes me wonder if I should ever do it again. So, I'm with ya. Sometimes the younger folks are just thinking it should be 'all about them'. Irksome, indeed.

What beautiful gifts to reason for no reason in particular! And no, you are NOT being a baby about your giveaway recipients being total heartless bitches. When I joined in the Spring Fling with your copy of Hungry Woman in Paris, I was afraid of just a random person winning, and yep, that's just what happened. After giving me her address I never heard another word from her. That is just RUDE. Next time I'm rigging it. LOL

You are not being a big baby at all! You were brought up correctly, and you understand good manners. Some do not.

I joined the Blogger Giveaway twice and was not thanked either time. That's why I skipped the last one. In addition, I've given away more than 150 books, and I've heard from fewer than 15 folks. Notice my lower lip is protruding.

What truly beautiful gifts. I love when people post on their blogs what they have received from fellow bloggers - especially crafts!!

No, I don't think you are being a baby - I think the least people could do is drop you a quick email saying the package arrived safely - and a quick thanks. Only common courtesy.

You have all the reason to feel that way, Elizabeth, It's just right and polite to acknowledge something received and give thanks to the giver. I am glad yo got something to cheer you up. Good timing!...Christine

You are right...you need to acknowledge. Sometimes the mail is really slow. My blog today is all about a wonderful gift I got. I have to confess that I got an award once when I had the flu and completely forgot who gave it to me...yikes!

Your gifts are lovely and thoughtful.

Have A Fabulous Friday

Hi lovely lady! Happy Saturday to you. How fun to get fun pkgs. in the mail from friends. I too often wonder if I should continue blogging. It is time consuming and self indulgent but I do so enjoy making new friends, like yourself and getting to know what your lives are like.
I think a simple mention in a post of any items recieved is only couteous. I have had 2 swaps where I did not received anything in return and a couple where they never let me know they rec'd them or even posted a mention, so ce's la vie.
Have a wonderful weekend.
xoxo, Tammy

You certainly are not a baby. I hate it too when people dont thank you at all for what you give or send them. It is so rude. I am almost at my hundredst post, I must think clearly what I shall do a give away or nothing and not mention it.
Happy pink Saturday Riet

You are not being a baby at all! People should say thank you at least! Doesnt have to be a grand hoopla just a simple thank you. I agree!

I totally understand how you feel. It's rude not to acknowledge it when someone sends you something. I send an email to the blogger after I get my prize(s) and I also like to mail them a thank you card. I'm hoping you received the ones I sent you or I will feel really bad.

Oh yeah, I still have plans to blog about my recent winnings. As soon as I find a minute to stop writing about pattern hoarding, I will. ;)
