Fair, Brown & Trembling: An Irish Cinderella Story A COINCIDENTAL HOLIDAY?
Right next door to me, in Suffolk County, MA, March 17 is also Evacuation Day, an official holiday commemorating the evacuation of British forces from the city of Boston during the Revolutionary War. Schools and government offices are closed. If March 17 falls on a weekend, schools and government offices are closed on the following Monday in observance. Do you think it's a coincidence that this Irish city doesn't have to work on St. Patty's Day? HMMM.... When will Norfolk County decide to honor this day, too?
PRIDE IN OUR HERITAGE!
My nephew dressed up for the holiday last year.
And his brother enjoyed having his picture taken
courtesy of Bennigan's restaurant in Boston.

Charming post! And I like your pride in being half Irish.
I am from the very northern part of Denmark which is called Vendsyssel, and most of us never forget where we come from. (Other Danes will tell you we are far to pleased about our heritage, but there you are).
Hi Elizabeth! Happy St.Patricks Day!
I love that girl Irish hat.
