The Alexander Cipher

Archaeologist Daniel Knox is not having a great week. His main goal right now is to stay alive and away from the thugs who are chasing him around Egypt. Having angered a powerful Egyptian businessman by interfering in his personal business, Knox has few places to turn where Hassan's influence cannot reach. And this is just the beginning of The Alexander Cipherby Will Adams! The adventure continues as Knox is further tormented by a Greek archaeological benefactor from his past. While trying to avoid all of this trouble, Knox stumbles into what possibly may be one of the greatest archaeological finds in Egyptian history, the mythical tomb of Alexander the Great.
This story is action-packed obviously, but is also extremely interesting on an intellectual level with all of the information on archaeology, Egyptian history and traditions, and the modern-day concerns of excavating in a city. I really liked the style of having short sections devoted to different characters and what each was up to at any given time, with all of it tying in together, so that a full picture was seen of a situation. Although I knew a little of Egyptian history, I learned a lot about ancient necropoli - cities of the dead-and the rise of the Ptolomaic pharaohs, the family line that ended with Cleopatra. I never knew that they weren't actually Egyptian!
With The Alexander Cipher,Will Adams has written what I believe is a well-researched, interesting and exciting book that will appeal to many people, in the spirit of The DaVinci Code, The Eight, and the novels of Clive Cussler.
