Bathroom Blues

It's another Blue Monday, hosted by Smiling Sally! On this day people post pictures of blue items they own or have seen. It's a fun way to look at the world when you're out and about, noticing things that are that certain color, in this case blue. This week I am showing some vintage blue medicine containers that I own.
About six months ago I shared my collection of apothecary bottles and medicine containers that I have on display in my powder room. There were some things that I didn't share at the time. One is this cute little cobalt blue bottle. It is one of the few vintage things I have that I bought myself. It just caught my eye in a junk shop many years ago. I keep it with the apothecary bottles because it adds some color, but I don't know the use for which it was originally intended. It has a small chip on the lip and one on the bottom.
I don't remember dental powder myself, but my parents do! This tin still has some in it. We found it under the sink in an old family home when we had to clean it out. I was in high school at the time, but I knew it was something cool and I grabbed it up!

Epsom Salts! So many uses, and we still have it in the house today!

Cleaning out my desk at work recently, I came across this Sucrets lozenge tin. I had been looking for it for a long time. I kept tacks in it at work. Now I just have to find my BandAid tin with the flip up lid. It's either somewhere at work, or someone stole it.I hope you enjoyed this little blue walk down memory lane! Be sure to visit Sally and the other Blue Monday participants!

Morning, Elizabeth! Love your blues this morning. Now my Mother is still a big believer in Epsom Salt and I remember Sucrets! I need one now.
Oh, by the way, I went back to my blog and wrote a story. Come back and read if you have a chance.
Be a sweetie,
Shelia ;)

Some neat vintage things you've got, Elizabeth. I think that the dental powder was used for false teeth. I still have my teeth, but my parents both had false, and I think they used it. Happy Blue Monday!

Love your bathroom blues! I am also wondering if Sucrets still exist. I will have to look. I have epsom salts at home, but not in a tin like that one. Happy Blue Monday!

I remember band-aid tins!

Did you ever use macuracome? Like neosporin today.

I believe they kept medicines that were oil-based in the cobalt blue apothocary bottles to keep out the light. Just like olive oil today should be kept from the light to preserve it. Happy Blue Monday

Hi Elizabeth :)

I wish I would have kept all the things they used to sell in tins, but who knew that they would stop?!

Oh and I've never made it with red potatoes, but I don't see why not :)

I really like the tins. I wish things were still packaged in tins - but then they wouldn't be collectors' items. The cobalt blue bottle is really great. Happy Blue Monday.

Oh, I remember dental powder. I remember I preferred it to paste. I had forgotten all about it. It must have been about a hundred years ago. Thanks for bringing back the memory. Happy Blue Monday.

These are great items in your blue medicinal theme. I do love your blue cobalt bottle too such a gorgeous colour. Hope you find the band - aid tin. That would be a shame, surely no-one stole it, fingers crossed.
