Appointment Pinks

A few days ago I was being a whiner about my long day at the hospital. [Please remember that when I say hospital it is a cancer research hospital where I see my doctor regularly, not a normal overnight hospital.] I was wearing my pink doctor visit ensemble and some very nice ladies took pictures for me to share with you! After you are amazed at my pinkness, be sure to visit Beverly and all of the other Pink Saturday participants at How Sweet the Sound.
Driving in to the city, there was this deep pink planter and mums in a niche behind the hospital. In front they had tons of them!
Here I am in the Infusion Room getting some IV immunoglobulin and enjoying a pretty good lunch. For some reason I really like the egg salad sandwiches they have at the hospital! Besides the lunch and the pretty nice reclining chair each patient has a 13 inch TV above them that gets quite a few channels. If you want privacy there are curtains and if you want to nap they'll bring you WARM BLANKETS! My favorite thing! So it's not too bad to be there for a few hours.
I am wearing one of my doctor visit sweat suits. There's a jacket too, that is gray and has pink stripes on the sleeves just like the pants. Have you ever heard the comedian Kathy Griffin joke about cancer patients and our sweat suits? It's true! I love them for seeing the doctor! It makes it easy for the doctor to get to everything he needs to see. That's also why I wear the slip off shoes that have pink accents! On a side note, did you know that New Balance is a Massachusetts-based company and most of their shoes are made in the USA?
This is a shot of my sparkly pink earrings that I love. They are not only pretty, they are light and have the French hooks so I never worry about them falling out. In this picture you can also see my thinning hair line, another side-effect, as well as my pink swollen eyelids and pinkishly discolored skin.
The final pink item I am wearing is my Co-Flex bandage. Co-Flex is an awesome bandage wrap that sticks to itself, but not to skin. It's great for cancer patients or the elderly, who get very thin skin that can tear from regular adhesive bandages. At the hospital they put a piece of gauze and wrap it with the Co-Flex when they draw blood.
Now you can zip on over to How Sweet the Sound and see what Beverly and the other gals are showing off today!

Thank you for sharing your pinks today. I'm all for the sweats idea. I have some on right now. But not as pretty as yours though. But I like them for the comfort at home after work or on the weekends if I am not going anywhere. Happy Pink Saturday!

You're such a brave person, I love the cheerful attitude you bring to what you're going through. I bet all the other patients were delighted by the bright cheerful pink you brought into the room!

Love the sparkly earrings.

I like that co-flex - I will check it out for my mom, she's had to bandage some scrapes and, being 82, as you say, her skin is fragile.

Good luck, best wishes, and keep smiling on Pink Saturday.

I really really admire your attitude and outlook, which comes through loud and clear in your post.

I am trying to remember what Kathy Griffin said exactly about sweatsuits and patients - can't put my finger on it - I'm going to have to Google it! Take care and God bless.

Jeez, Elizabeth, I wish I was half that color-coordinated on my best days. I can't tell you the number of times -- when I was teaching kindergarten, or when I was doing a seminar for teachers -- that I showed up wearing two different colors of shoes :o) You know how "teacher shoes" are ... find a pair that's really comfy, then buy them in every color. It's hard to tell black from navy or brown in a poorly-lit closet or hotel room.

FYI, my husband is a clinical pharmacist (mainly IV home care), and he swears by Co-Flex for his patients.

Happy Pink Saturday!

The egg salad sandwich is already hurting my stomach. I love them but they don't love me.

I'm loving your pink outfit and earrings. I really love that pink planter.

Wishing you just loved the color pink and that there wasn't the meaning behind it.

hugs

Now I really wish I had taken a picture of the cupcakes I made so I could at least send you some virtual pink yumminess.

Thanks for really and truly sharing with us.

My sister has always said she met some of the nicest and funniest people in the chemo room. It definitely takes a VERY special kind of person.
