Welcome to the big Halloween Party, hosted by Vanessa @ A Fanciful Twist. It's a great idea for getting Halloween decorating, cooking, and craft ideas. I hope you'll visit Vanessa's site to see what other people have posted today.
Every month my friends and I get together for a craft or game night, hostess's choice. The hostess provides beverages and the guests bring either an appetizer or a dessert. It can get pretty loud depending on what beverages are served! For October I am the hostess and I have a plan that includes a craft AND a game! I hope everyone likes it!
My house is already decorated for fall, inside and out, so that's one thing I don't have to do!
Just for fun, as everyone arrives I put out some plain masks that cover just the wearer's eyes for people to decorate. There's glitter, sequins, feathers, paint, Aleen's craft glue, scrapbooking paper, all sorts of fun things to make a fun, wild or sexy mask! It's a quck little project and will give us something to wear either answering our doorbells or taking our kids trick or treating.
The girls brought all sorts of fun Halloween treats, and several people included enough copies of the recipes for everyone. How thoughtful!
I made an
Eerie, Frothy Green Punch from a recipe I found at Diana's Desserts.
Mary brought a really fun appetizer that was so easy to make! She made sausage & cheese balls from her usual recipe, and then half-way through baking she popped a green olive with pimiento center into the middle to make a spooky eyeball!
So many of the treats for Halloween are sweets, I was very excited to get an idea that was both savory and easy!
Another healthier snack that is easy and ghoulish is the apple mouths with rotten teeth. They really look gross, at least to me! Taking a section out of the apple slice and then pushing slivered almonds in to be the teeth is so easy that kids can make these for their own party. They can be served with peanut butter, caramel and chocolate dipping sauces. To be really gross a red syrup or jam could be dribbled to be coming out of the mouth! Yuck!

Susan made witch's finger cookies with her daughter. She said she just shaped sugar cookie dough into the shape of a creepy finger, making ridges with the end of a spoon. Once the cookies were almost done she stuck red colored almonds in as the fingernails. How cool would it be to make some with black or green almonds!? Even better, use the colored baking sugar to coat the almonds first and you have glittery fingernails!
Instead of bunco or pokeno I've made up a Halloween Bingo that was so easy! I printed blank bingo boards that I made on my computer, with the center space being FREE. Then everyone received a page of 25 Haloween stickers to place in whatever arrangement they wanted on their bingo board, making them all different. Very little advance prep for me! The best part of the game is the prizes, of course! Each guest has brought a Halloween or fall item that she has made. We will play Bingo until all the prizes are gone, and then finish up our snacks!
Summer brought this great witch's cauldron that she made. I'd fill it with candy of course, but I'm sure someone has a more original idea. Maybe orange and red tissue to simulate a fire?Sarah made these adorable cheesecloth ghosts and included the battery operated votives to put inside them! They will be so cute on someone's mantel or coffee table!
These fun noise makers were made by spray painting margarine containers orange, black or white and decorating them with wacky faces. They have a decorated dowel inserted into the side and held tight with thick craft glue. They were filled with dried beans, tiny pebbles, and odd bits of metal to give them different sounds. Once I liked the sound, I sealed the container with a little craft glue.
I hope you got some fun Halloween ideas that you can use this holiday season. Be sure to visit A Fanciful Twist and check out some of the other participants; I think there's over 100!

Today, I went to the beach front with my kids. I found a sea shell and gave
it to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear." She put the shell to her ear and screamed.
There was a hermit crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
