Simple Woman July 7

Each Monday, I like to participate in the Simple Woman's Daybook, sponsored by Peggy, the Simple Woman. It is a great way to start your week and center yourself. Take some time to stop by and read other people's Daybooks and see all the great things Peggy does as a homemaker.
July 7, 2008
Outside my window everything is very still and quiet. The trees aren't moving at all, which is unusual.
I am thinking that I need to make a to-do list for the week. I usually do it before I do my Daybook and it really is very helpful.
I am thankful for the Internet, which keeps me connected with the outside world. Being sick at home would be a lot more difficult without it. I don't know how people did it more than 10 years ago!
In the kitchen I am making my own version of etouffee, either on Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll be having guests!
I am wearing the same old/same old! t-shirt, capri yoga pants, barefoot!
I am creating 10 recipe cards for a scrapbook swap. They are each 8x8 and the recipe is for an Asian cucumber salad. I am using all cool, summery colors, and I love them!
I am going to get my teeth cleaned today! Due to my transplants, it's been 2 years, and I LOVE to get my teeth cleaned, so I am very excited.
I am reading Crouching Buzzard, Leaping Loon by Donna Andrews. It's part of a fun, light mystery about a female blacksmith who gets caught in situations of murder.
I am hoping that the darn humidity will let up!!! I am very sick of being in the house!
I am hearing nothing except myself typing! No traffic, no birds, no neighbors, no TV or radio!
Around the house I need to organize the dining room clutter, especially if people are coming to dinner! It's become a dumping ground.
One of my favorite things is putting something crunchy in ice cream, like smashed cookies, or granola. Right now my thing is Kashi Go Lean Crunch Cereal. Be sure to use the "Crunch", or it will be a soggy cereal!
A few plans for the rest of the week include having my sister and 2 of her kids over for dinner, getting my teeth cleaned, doing some clean-out of my classroom (weather permitting), and my parents may be visiting at the end of the week.

I laughed at the teeth cleaning too, but in a good way. I too love freshly cleaned teeth!

I really enjoyed reading your Daybook entry. Loved your comment about having your teeth cleaned - there is nothing like the feeling of professionally cleaned teeth!

Hi Elizabeth :)

We watched the Bucket List the other night. Great movie that really makes you think.

I'm so glad you're having company for dinner. I hope you have a great time :)

You are a dentists dream and I am their worst nightmare. I hate going to the dentist LOL

How fun to have company over! The internet has been such a blessing to me as well when I am confined to my home. I do not like the process of having my teeth cleaned, however, I love the result! :)

Hi Elizabeth! Isn't it funny how we all as you say "crash" into each other eventually considering how many bloggies are around!!! I love the day book idea and need to try this. I too was doing a recipe book but my scrapping has taken a backseat to blogging!lol no one needs to be cooking in this humid weather anyway! My daughter has read every one of Evanovich's books and is waiting for paperback version of 14! I haven't read any but may need to start. I usually read self-help books but since I keep reading obviously they must not be doing much!lol Well glad to meet you and I hope we visit again! Jeannette

Earlier today I read a blog by someone who HATES to go to the dentist for a cleaning. I disliked her very much by the end of the post. How nice to read your blog -- the complete opposite -- now. Please share your etouffee recipe if you can. I've never made it but always wanted to try it.

WOW! I didn't think my teeth cleaning would be the thing so many people commented on! I don't MIND getting my teeth cleaned, but I LOVE the way they feel after! Also, having been a cancer patient for 5 years, I really don't notice what the drs. and dentists like to call "discomfort" or "pinches" anymore. It's definitely a pinch compared to a lung biopsy!

Funny! Most of the comments here are about your teeth cleaning. Perhaps you inspired them to be optimistic in dental appointments, Elizabeth.

I can relate to that too, actually. I hate getting my teeth bleached, but since my dentist (Easley, SC-based) does one heck of a job, I still go on with it. I just think of myself as having sparkly white teeth, and that gives me courage to step into my Easley, SC dentist's clinic.
