WOW! People sure liked the vintage Halloween postcards I posted for Vintage Thingies Thursday a few weeks ago. I thought I'd feed your hunger with some for Thanksgiving. I know it's a few weeks away, but you may want to use the images in your crafting for the holiday. Wouldn't one of these be lovely ironed on to a wine bag, or in the corner of a small place mat? Everyone could go home with their own Thanksgiving place mat! Or just use them to send greetings to those you won't be seeing for this holiday! Be sure to visit Confessions of an Apron Queen when you are done. There is a big list of participants sharing other nifty vintage thingies! This is my favorite of all the postcards I have. I love cornucopias, they totally give me the feeling of abundance and life, which is what they're supposed to do!
I haven't seen many of these vintage postcards with normal-looking people. This pretty young lady seems to be appropriate for her era and isn't doing anything weird in the picture.
This is totally bizarro! Notice that the cart the ear of corn is riding is made of Indian corn! These crack me up! That's sure a friendly looking axe murderer, and check out the look on that guy's face as he prepares to carve the turkey!
Maybe I'll send this one to friends who haven't heard from me in a while! (I know, gallows humor is not appropriate. But it's OK if I say it myself!)
I did a color correction in Photoshop on this card, so you should be able to see the glitter on the turkey's feathers. This girl's eyes kind of creep me out.
I send Thanksgiving cards to some of my elderly relatives who I don't see for Thanksgiving. I know they enjoy getting mail. But to me it's really not a card sending holiday. Do you send Thanksgiving greetings?

The vintage Thanksgiving postcards are fabulous, and your comments about them bring a smile to my face. Love, Faith
Neat postcards.
I love vintage postcards! I'll have to dig mine out one of these Thursdays.
My sister has a huge collection of vintage Thanksgiving postcards with dead turkeys on them. Hilarious, in a macabre sort of way.
You know I love vintage postcards!
These are wonderful! I like the
cornucopia one too and the big
turkey w/pumpkin!
The three first cards are so beautiful! We don't celebrate Thanksgiving here in Finland, so we don't have such cards at all.
OOOOooohhhh i love them all!!
I am loving that woman's pilgrim hat/bonnet. Maybe I'll make one to wear for Thanksgiving :)
Those are cute-I don't usually send cards at Thanksgiving-but I grew up in Australia where we didn't have Pilgrims we had convicts, no Thanksgiving!
LOL

What CUTE postcards. I love them. I think you could do so much with these, but I love them just the way they are.
Once again you had me LOL-I now understand why the first girl looks "normal"! Great Thanksgiving greeting cards!
To answer your question, I'll send the occasional Thanksgiving card - usually only to people who I won't see on the big day. My favorite is the kid with the turkey plow. What the heck? Lol. I agree, that last girl's eyes are pretty scarey. What a hoot! Where do you find these? I look for them and never can seem to find them.
I don't usually send Thanksgiving cards, but you're inspiring me, so I think I may make up a few this weekend. Those line-drawn type cards with the scary men on them are hilarious. Where did you get all of these?
We don't have Thanksgiving over here in Europe. But those cards just crack me up!
Hi Elizabeth,
The picture on my blog is of my late Grandmother. (It's written on the top of the pic.) I constantly change my header pic. I guess becauce you are new to my blog you wouldn't know that.
Talk to you soon,
Donna
Hi, Elizabeth!

Enjoy the beginning of the holiday season and talk with you soon!
:^) Anna
Those were so funny, but I actually have the one with the girl cutting the crust on the unbaked pie. We're so much alike, aren't we? I loved the one with the guy with the knife that looks more like a machete. That turkey is sure in trouble with the size of that thing. xxoo
Hi Elizabeth, I love vintage postcards! I love to make Tags and greeting cards out of them!
I do send Thanksgiving greetings to family members I don't see. I like to make the vintage postcards into tags and attach them to my homemade goodies!
Love, Ann
Thanks for stopping by (and commenting!) on my BATW day!
I get such a kick out of these postcards! I think they'd be fun ironed onto flour sack dish towels too!
I absolutely adore these cards Elizabeth. I can't figure out which is my favorite OR which is the creepiest. Wonder why they made them look so creepy? Or has our perception of creepy evolved into something different today than it was then?
I'm goina wait for an answer from the teacher on that one!
Delightful, informative post as always Elizabeth. You yourself are a treasure.
I love vintage postcards... I buy them off ebay :) Vintage reproductions are also really fun.
Oh these are Fabulous, Elizabeth! That last one...yikes! you're right about that little girl being creepy! She's got crazy eyes! LOL!
I absolutely love these cards!!!!
Your vintage thanksgiving cards are wonderful...I should be posting some of my vintage Christmas cards soon.
Nowadays I send out few Thanksgiving cards and mostly to elder relatives.
I love the postcard of the girl next to the turkey.
